Founder & Chairman’s Profile – Tonny Nguyen
My name is Tonny Nguyen (Nguyen Manh Truong), a Vietnamese national with nearly three decades of professional engagement in the maritime, offshore, and heavy transportation industries. Tonny originate from Hung Yen Province and was born and raised in Hai Phong City, the historic heart of Vietnam’s maritime sector, where my connection to shipping and the sea was formed at an early age.
Tonny graduated from Vietnam Maritime University, Class 36 (1995–2000), majoring in Maritime Transport Economics. Immediately after graduation, Tonny joined Falcon Shipping, a member company of the Vietnam Maritime Corporation, specializing in petroleum transportation. During my five years with Falcon Shipping, Tonny acquired strong operational discipline, commercial insight, and a deep understanding of vessel employment within regulated and high-risk cargo segments.
In 2005, Tonny founded TNT Shipping Company JSC Viet Nam with a clear leadership vision: to build a shipping and offshore service company driven by operational realism, cost efficiency, and professional integrity. From its inception, TNT Shipping was designed to challenge conventional limitations and deliver solutions that truly serve project owners rather than entrenched structures.
The company initially focused on chemical tanker operations, successfully supporting major industrial and petrochemical clients including Petrolimex Chemical, Hyosung, Vedan Vietnam, Dung Quat Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, and Military Chemical Enterprises. These projects strengthened TNT Shipping’s reputation for reliability, compliance, and precise execution in sensitive cargo transportation.
In 2010, Tonny strategically expanded TNT Shipping into offshore tug, towing, and Transportation & Installation (T&I) services, marking a decisive turning point in the company’s legacy. TNT Shipping went on to win and execute multiple offshore construction and installation contracts, including the DK1 through DK5 offshore platform projects for the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense.
TONNY am widely recognized as one of the pioneers who introduced civilian maritime assets into Vietnam’s offshore oil and gas service sector at scale. By deploying properly certified civilian tugboats and marine assets into technically complex offshore projects involving foreign elements, Tonny helped dismantle monopolistic barriers, significantly reduce project costs, and improve efficiency for investors—while strictly maintaining international maritime and offshore safety standards.
Over time, my professional focus has evolved into advanced offshore T&I operations and heavy lift / over-dimensional cargo transportation, both domestically and internationally. Tonny have led and supervised the transportation, installation, and construction of large-scale and high-value structures, contributing directly to multiple national strategic and infrastructure projects. Today, TONNYam regarded as a specialist in managing high-risk, high-complexity marine logistics where engineering precision, legal compliance, and operational leadership must align.
My leadership philosophy is grounded in decisive responsibility, technical mastery, and long-term vision. Tonny believe true leadership in maritime and offshore industries is defined not by scale alone, but by the ability to deliver results under pressure, protect stakeholder interests, and leave behind sustainable operational frameworks.
Looking ahead, my mission is to further strengthen TNT Shipping through continuous advancement of technical knowledge, legal and regulatory expertise, and elite human resources. Tonny am committed to building a legacy company that grows in parallel with Vietnam’s national development and contributes meaningfully to the country’s integration into the global maritime and offshore economy.
